Lamination process

Lamination

Cold/hot roll lamination uses laminating film in rolls of different width, thickness and surface. In this technology, the laminating film is applied to the medium by roller press laminators, and the product can be laminated on one or both sides.

The maximum width of the laminated material depends on the machine or the laminating material itself. Atia Print has a two-section laminator, SEAL 6100, for both hot and cold applications, with a maximum working width of 164 cm and a clearance of 2.5 cm and а one-section laminator, SEAL 62S, with a working width of 157 cm.

Lamination has several main purposes:

Protecting the print from mechanical impacts

Some specific applications (such as vehicle and floor graphics, etc.) require a significant increase in the mechanical strength of the print. Lamination using special laminates solves this problem.

Protecting the print from environmental impact

In their actual application, products are often exposed to solar UV radiation, acid rain, condensation and humidity, etc. Using a suitable laminate drastically reduces these impacts.

Aesthetics

A laminate plays its role in building the overall message of the product. Matt, gloss, semi-matt, specific structures and shagreens are some of the qualities that contribute to the completeness of a product.

If you have any doubts about whether your product needs to be laminated and what laminate to use, make sure to contact an employee from our sales department. It is very important that you know where and how the product will be used, i.e. indoors or outdoors, for a small or large period, and what printing technology you want to use.
